KADIMA

Kadima is FUN! With activities such as skating, movies, trips, basketball league, social action programs and even fun educational programs, there is something for everyone.

Kadima is a synagogue based international youth group for grades 6 through 8. It is sponsored by United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. There are regions throughout the world and within each region there are chapters. We are part of the Hagalil region of New Jersey.

Kadima offers the opportunity for our students to broaden their outlook on Judaism and to make friends locally, within the region and throughout the country. Kadima also provides leadership as well as community service opportunities. All we need is your participation and enthusiasm.
For more information, please contact youth@ahavatolam-nj.org

USY

USY stands for United Synagogue Youth. Like Kadima it is an international, synagogue-based youth group for high school aged students sponsored by United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism. There are regions throughout the world and each region is divided into chapters. We are part of the Hagalil Region of New Jersey.

USY picks up where Kadima left off with even more opportunities and more FUN!!! Within USY, students will be able to expand their Jewish identity and knowledge while forming life-long friendships. A student can become a leader locally, regionally or nationally and participate in community service programs. All these activities can be added to college applications.

Activities include, Leadership Training Institutes, conventions within the region and International Convention, dances, movies, skating, a week-long encampment the last week in summer, and the awesome USY GREAT SUMMER ESCAPES. These summer programs include tours across North America, Israel, and Europe. For more information, please contact youth@ahavatolam-nj.org

SISTERHOOD

Participating in Sisterhood is a warm and wonderful way to meet new people and form lasting friendships with other women who share a sense of commitment to our synagogue and Jewish community. As a welcoming gift to new female synagogue members, they are entitled to free Sisterhood membership for the first year.

Sisterhood is an ever-expanding group of women of all ages who come together and enjoy each other's company. We learn, teach, share, socialize, and perform good deeds to support each other and our synagogue in ways that give us pride and fulfillment.

We plan interesting programs and events, have a book club and are in the process of designing and making a quilted Chuppah cover for our new synagogue. We help support the religious school, assist families of B'nai Mitzvot with organizing their simcha, send gifts to our college students, sponsor Oneg Shabbat and Kiddushim, and, when requested, prepare shiva tables for bereaved families. Let us know what kinds of programs you enjoy and would like to attend, and if there is a subject you are willing to teach. By pooling our talents, we plan to make Sisterhood fun and meaningful for all our members.

An affiliate of Women's League for Conservative Judaism, we are part of the largest synagogue based women's group. We are members of the Garden State Region and actively participate in regional and national activities. Through the purchase of Torah Fund pins and cards, we help support the Torah Fund campaign to ensure the continuing education of rabbis, cantors, educators and lay leaders who study at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York and abroad. Contributions to Torah Fund strengthen and perpetuate Conservative/Masorti Judaism throughout the world.

Opportunities to participate in Sisterhood are available on various levels, and dues, donations and participation are crucial to our many programs. Remember, each one of us is important to the success of Sisterhood. Join with me in making our organization a center for learning, social gatherings and enjoyable times. If everyone participates in a small way, we all benefit.

Jewish National Fund Certificates

Tree certificates have been a steadily growing fundraiser for sisterhood for the last 15 years. The JNF plants trees, has water projects and works on conservation efforts and education. The organization also takes care of parks and landscaping for public buildings in Israel, and most closely relates to our department of the Interior.

Besides memorial certificates, there are also certificates you can purchase for simchas: weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, etc. The cost of these certificates is $15.00. Please contact Marcia Saltzman at 732-928-2478 to purchase these certificates and give her the information needed for processing and mailing. Please make checks payable to Congregation Ahavat Olam Sisterhood, and mail them directly to our treasurer, Marcia Resnick at: 15 Alden Terrace, Howell, NJ 07731.

**Please note: If you wish to contact one of our board members for anything regarding sisterhood, please call the synagogue office or
